And while it’s hands-down our go-to method for saving real dollars for travel, we use a combination of several different methods to effectively get the job done. But if you’re struggling to pay bills and/or manage a tight budget, it can get especially frustrating (and perhaps impossible) to set aside even a little bit of extra money. And that can get downright depressing. We’ve been there. We’re constantly pinching pennies and re-evaluating our expenses to make it all work. That’s why we’re happy to share one obvious but often overlooked method to get an extra $500 cash in your hands QUICK. And this week we’re doing it too. It’s simple. It’s probably going to be a pain in the neck. But it will work. Three words: Raid. Your. Closets. Seriously, friends, there are things that most of us have lying around that we haven’t touched in years, maybe even decades. We’re currently moving, downsizing in fact, so we’re deep into sifting and sorting mode. But you don’t have to be physically moving for this process to be worth it. Taking an inventory of what you own is not only good for record-keeping and insurance reasons, but it allows you to take a real look at your rarely used or untouched items and ask yourself, “Am I honestly ever going to use that again?” If the answer is an easy, “No,” then we recommend you either sell or donate the item. If it’s not getting used by you, and it’s not sentimental, passing it onto someone else by way of a tax-deductible donation or selling it is just another great way to streamline and declutter while making your whole life less stressful.
